Military Road

A road stretches into the distance, cutting through open moorland under a wide, hazy sky. There is a sense of journey here — of somewhere left behind and somewhere not yet reached. Military Road captures the raw, windswept beauty of a landscape that feels both ancient and alive. Featuring a small old fashioned plane which is common in Isle of Wight, which is the place that inspired this painting.

The muted tones of heather, long grass and scattered poppiese are punctuated by the pale light breaking through the clouds, giving the scene a quiet drama that draws the eye away from the houses but towards the wilded foreground.
