Antique Roses

Antique Roses is an original oil painting on canvas that brings the quiet romance of a vintage still life into a bold, contemporary register.

A generous bouquet of bold yellow roses, softened here and there with blush pink, gathers in a rounded glass vase. The paint is worked loosely and expressively: long, organic drips run down the canvas, and an earthy, moody backdrop pushes the blooms to the verge of abstract. The result feels freshly painted yet quietly nostalgic, a floral piece with real presence.

This is a painting that rewards a second look every time you pass it, shifting between recognisable roses and pure gesture as the light changes.
